Dear team, members and friends,

Following our earlier facebook post and message in the digital magazine of February, we would like to keep you informed of the current state of affairs within BVA. The reactions from home till abroad were numerous and the common thread in this was that BVA and the work of 33 years should not be lost. We have understood this message and have taken up the gauntlet again!
At the request of Edwin Vloeberghen, who has accepted to join the Board, we have come together to evaluate things:
The fact that BVA cannot continue in the same way is stating the obvious. Times, habits, perception and especially legislation change. If one looks at reality from one’s own private vision, this is often literally a world of difference, in which many clubs get stuck. Then there seems to be no other way out than to stop.
However, a reverse perception offers a way out: There is a Japanese proverb that says: “every crisis offers opportunities”, it is no different here. Starting from the current reality, seeing what is possible with the necessary flexibility for the future. Often a difficult message because it requires change and adaptation, also in the bird world. But it is the only sustainable solution.
As previously reported, everything will continue in 2025 and in 2026, we will roll out a new substantive concept, followed by a thorough evaluation at the end of 2026. Some things will be adjusted or even disappear, but new concrete possibilities will also present themselves. The essence will remain to put the Lovebirds in the first place, for the enthusiasts who have a warm heart for them.
We will meet the needs of information, rehoming, competition, identification (ordering rings will remain possible), hobby promotion, but also provide answers in terms of legislation and guidelines, etc. Modules (topics) will be linked to this that will be tested against parameters of importance, feasibility and sustainability. An important fact is the mainly electronic nature, especially for the fulfilment of the information need.
The intention is to make BVA a sustainable association with conviction, so that the next generations after us can still enjoy this honest hobby.
Change is a necessity, although it often brings some discomfort. We ask for some patience for that. We are aware that some will abandon the ship, but for those who stay will be rewarded in the future. Don’t forget that everything is done voluntarily, in the interest of all fanciers. Of course, we will keep you informed of further developments.
Thank you again for your numerous support, in the first place by the lovebirds and in the second place the volunteer board team of BVA.

See you soon.
The Board.
